A new documentary about homosexual US politicians has opened last week in LA stirring controversy and fiery debates.
In 'Outrage', Oscar-nominated director Kirby Dick exposes his thesis that Congress politicians, most of them members of the Republican Party, firmly - often vehemently - oppose equal rights measures for gays because they're anxious to conceal their own sexual orientation.
The film candidly provides names and surnames of those believed to be closeted gay politicians, causing indignation and resentment.
All the law and policymakers identified have previously been "outed" in print or online, but most either deny being gay or simply decline to comment on privacy grounds.
American independent news organisation National Public Radio (NPR) caused itself some controversy by cutting the names of some of the political figures from its review of the film.
Critic Nathan Lee, author of the review, subsequently removed his name from the article in protest and posted a comment on the (NPR) website, which was also quickly removed by NPR executives.
