Chapman Brothers: Black Hearted Love for PJ Harvey and John Parish

By Sara Pergola06.05.2009

Chapman Brothers The contemporary artists Jake and Dinos Chapman, have presented their second video-clip "Black Hearted Love", realized for PJ Harvey and John Parish.

After the success of the Peth's "Let's go Fucking Mental", they have challenged the rules of pop video again. Without following a simple visual narrative to comply with the music, the artists tried to intervene on the usual video formula. The video features Polly jumping up and down on a bouncy castle, delaying on purpose the lip-synch of the singer, breaking the rules of pop videos.

In spite of the pressure of commercial interests and public expectation, they made the effort to produce a video not just to sell the record, but, as the artists said to the Guardian: "we'd like people to watch our videos, go out on the street and burn their Porsches."
